Moving it on

Going to see if I can get this to work: putting some links to sites that tie in with my favourites mentioned above. Lets see.... hit this one...hmmm. Why did it put it up there? I wanted it here:

http://www.dorothydunnett.co.uk That's better. This is a good source of info on DD and her books. Go on, try one. Great historical content, travel far flung lands, and the best heroes ever.

What else? One for cooking and food for free:

http://forum.rivercottage.net/index.php The forum for people interested in all things self-sufficiency, a la Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall's 'River Cottage' series (originally C4, repeated on Sky channels).

Lets post this and see if it works.

First steps

OK. Kids in bed, dog asleep, partner out. What better time? This blank page is rather daunting, so how about a list of things that interest me?

Reading (rather do it than clean!). Lots of tripe, and a few trollopes along the way. Mainly crime fiction, but my favourite author of all time is the late, great Dorothy Dunnett. She wrote the best two historical series: The Lymond Chronicles and the Niccolo series. No one else writes like she did.

Cooking (except evening meals). My local baker seems to be closing, so am dusting off my cookbooks and trying to make my own. Once you have tasted real bread (not Chorleywood Process) the rest doesn't cut the mustard.

Food for free. Blasted squirrels got to the cobnuts before I could pick them. Blackberry bushes hereabouts stripped and jam made, and a new venture - sloe gin - if we can identify the right fruit!

Must find out how to add links to this page.
